The National Academy of Sciences

The CHAAMP conference will be held at the newly restored National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Building located on the National Mall near the Lincoln Memorial.  This year the NAS celebrates its 150th year of service to the nation and a continuing commitment to excellence in science, engineering, and medicine. Since 1863, the NAS has provided independent, expert advice on some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation and the world. Founded by a congressional charter signed by Abraham Lincoln, the NAS eventually expanded to include the National Research Council, National Academy of Engineering, and Institute of Medicine.

From June 2010 through June 2012, the NAS Building at 2101 Constitution Ave., N.W. underwent a major restoration.  The project has restored and improved the building’s historic spaces, increased accessibility, and brought the building’s aging infrastructure and facilities into the 21st century.
